The Promise of Boundless Compassion Course
Traversing the Path of Love, Gratitude, and Liberation
Classes begin on January 17, 2016
Registration open until January 6th
Our The Promise of Boundless Compassion course will be one of our best courses of 2016. It will bring you in touch with the Great Compassion within your being and arouse your awareness to the wisdom and love pervading in the universe.
This course will survey the life and writings of the Japanese Pure Land school innovators, Honen Shonin (1133-1212) and his disciple Shinran Shonin (1173 – 1263), and how their teachings are relevant for North Americans in the 21st century. Both spiritual revolutionaries lived in a tumultuous time of political change, war, and religious upheaval. They both pushed the boundaries of Buddhist teachings and practice by making them accessible to ordinary people outside the monastic elite and became founder of two spiritually and philosophical rich schools: Jodo Shu (Honen) and Jodo Shinshu (Shinran).
This course will look into their re-interpretation of the ancient Pure Land teachings that has inspired generations since to walk the path of bliss and gratitude. Classes meet 6 times over a 6 month period of time.
