A group of Buddhist Faith Fellowship members and friends will be going up to Northampton, Mass. to listen/participate in a Krishna Das kirtan concert on Friday, Sept. 18. from 7 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Krishna Das is the most widely known kirtan wallah in the west today. Kirtan is a form of devotion which involves repeatedly chanting the names of God using simple mantras and melodies that were shaped in India thousands of years ago. All are welcome. We hope to see you there.
Krishna Das has been recording albums of traditional Indian chants and song since 1996 and has been on a spiritual journey his entire life. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Krishna Das has been at the forefront of utilizing western melodic sensibilities in Hindu kirtan (chanting) and satsang while maintaining its traditional base and structure. He is a master of infusing the Indian tradition with modern influences. While staying true to the path of Bhakti, or Devotional Yoga, his music is energized with modern grooves and melodies to create soulful chanting that is eminently accessible to western hearts.
