Our monthly Beginner’s Guide to Walking the Shin Buddhist Path Drop-in Class and Practice offers participants a unique and non-committing opportunity to learn about Buddhism as a living tradition and in a gentle and structured format by one of Connecticut’s most experienced Buddhist teachers, Senpai Lewis-Bastias. Open to all and no experience necessary. You can pick up the class and practice at any time; a short review of the previous chapter(s) is always offered at the beginning of each class.
The current book is the modern classic, River of Fire, River of Water by Dr. Taitetsu Unno. Included in every session is a variety of short and basic meditation practices such as voice and sitting meditation.Open to all even if you don’t have the book; we guarantee you that you will learn something about Buddhism. About the Unique Meditation Space
The meditation space is unmatched in Connecticut. You might have to go to Japan to experience a similar traditional atmosphere. The room is adorned with light colored wood with traditional designs that create a serene ambiance that soothes the mind and senses. An entire wall is a clear glass window that overlooks a spectacular Zen garden and adjacent tatami room.
