FIRST ANNUAL IN GRATITUDE TRIBUTE HONOREE  DR.DAISETZ TEITARO SUZUKI AND HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE

DECEMBER 11, 2016 at THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART | 11 W 53rd St, New York, NY

DAISETZ TEITARO SUZUKI, 1870-1966.

Please join the American Buddhist Study Center as we gather to celebrate Dr. Suzuki’s remarkable achievements. D.T. Suzuki gained world renown for his leading role in introducing Zen and Shin Buddhism to the English-speaking world. His books became standards that marked a profound change in the American public’s appreciation of Asian religions.

This year is the commemoration of D.T. Suzuki’s 50th Memorial Anniversary. He is the first recipient of the ABSC’s “In Gratitude” award. We honor him for his cosmopolitan Buddhist philosophy and intercultural point of view. He is a true pioneer in a long line of internationally prominent Buddhist figures in America.

On December 11, from 2 PM at the Museum of Modern Art (11 West 53rd Street, NYC) we will honor D.T. Suzuki with series of lectures and Japanese cultural demonstrations, including traditional Japanese tea ceremony, Japanese dance both classical and contemporary, Taiko drumming, and a live Kendo and Iaido demonstration.
