Our Vision

A Contemplative Center For Practice and Renewal

A Vision for a Dedicated Home for Our Sangha

For many years, we have gathered at Wesleyan University, and we are deeply grateful for that space. However, it is only available to us on select weekends, which limits our ability to offer regular practice, retreats, and gatherings.

As our community continues to grow, so too has a quiet and steady vision: to establish a dedicated contemplative retreat center — a peaceful sanctuary for practice, reflection, and spiritual care, open throughout the year.

We are actively exploring potential properties that could serve as a future retreat center. Some opportunities include existing multi-structure properties in natural settings suitable for retreat use.

A Place for Practice and Renewal

This retreat center would offer a supportive environment for:

  • Daylong and residential retreats
  • In-person courses and educational programs in wisdom and compassion
  • Classroom, office, media room, and small studio spaces
  • Quiet reflection and personal renewal

An ideal setting would be in a natural, semi-rural environment that supports silence, stillness, and connection to the land. Outdoor spaces may include simple contemplative or Zen-style gardens, offering places of quiet beauty and reflection.

Care, Compassion, and End-of-Life Support

A central part of this vision is the integration of spiritual care and compassionate presence. The center would support:

  • Grief and loss gatherings
  • End-of-life reflection and preparation
  • Collaboration with hospice and healing communities

In this way, the center becomes not only a place of retreat, but a place of deep human care—meeting people at all stages of life.

Legacy and Stewardship

Places carry meaning. Our aspiration is to honor that spirit through thoughtful stewardship, allowing such a center to serve others in a meaningful and life-giving way for generations to come. For those who feel called to support this vision, there may also be opportunities for legacy recognition or naming within the space (rooms, garden areas, meditation rooms, or other features).

An Invitation

Bringing this vision into being requires partnership. We are seeking not only financial support, but individuals who feel a connection to helping create a lasting home for the teachings. If this vision resonates with you, we warmly invite you to:

  • Make a donation (every gift matters)
  • Contact us directly if you would like to discuss ways to support this project
