Discussions on Death and Dying

Inspired by the Death Cafe movement started by Swiss sociologist and anthropologist Bernard Cretaz in 2004, which encourages community gatherings during which people discuss death over cake and coffee.

These discussions have helped to relax the taboo of speaking about death, particularly with strangers, and encouraged people to express their own wishes for end-of-life care and beyond. The open-ended discussions also provide an avenue to express thoughts about one’s own life stirred up by the death of a family member.

Melissa Lewis, RN BSN, Director of Training and Services for the Clear Light Society will be facilitating this open discussion. Our aim is to increase awareness of death to help people make the most of their lives.

There is no charge for participating in this event.
