Spiritual Field Trips

A few times a year, we invites you to join our Buddhist pilgrimages, what we like call spiritual field trips, to sacred sites such as the majestic Chuang Yen Monastery in Carmel, New York, the tranquil New England Peace Pagoda in Leverett, Massachusetts, and the splendid Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery (KTD) in Woodstock, New York .

These spiritual journeys offer uinque opportunities to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Buddhist culture, history, and practice. At Chuang Yen Monastery, you can see the largest indoor Buddha statue in the Western Hemisphere and engage in meditation within its peaceful halls, while the Peace Pagoda, set amidst New England’s rolling hills, provides a space for reflection and interfaith harmony inspired by its universal message of peace, and at the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery, the experience of authentic Tibetan spirituality within its stunning architecturial designs and art instill inner peace, inspiration, and deep connection.

Beyond spiritual exploration, these trips are vibrant social occasions where you can connect with fellow travelers, share stories, and build lasting friendships in a welcoming community, making each pilgrimage a joyful and memorable adventure.

What is the meaning of a Buddhist pilgrimage? A Buddhist pilgrimage is a journey to a sacred or religious site to learn about the Dharma (Buddhist teachings) and the life of the Buddha, and the great masters. The goal is for religious experience, inspiration, and spiritual growth. Unlike other religions, undertaking a pilgrimage is not a requirement or duty but rather it a skillful way to connect with the religion, and its culture, and fellow travelers on the path.

Our pilgramages are offered free of charge, ensuring accessibility for all, though some sites may have costs like meals or optional donations. To make these trips affordable and social, fellowship friends carpool, splitting gas and tolls, or travel in a caravan, fostering a sense of togetherness as you journey together.

These shared experiences—laughing during car rides, exploring sacred sites, or savoring a meal with new friends—create a warm, inclusive atmosphere that welcomes beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. To join these enriching and enjoyable spiritual field trips, check our event calendar or any upcoming event posts for dates, destinations, and details. Come along for a day of discovery, connection, and joy!
