The serene grounds and towering Buddha statue inspired a deep sense of peace. We were warmly welcomed and gifted a generous number of free books to take home and enjoy. The highlight for many was the traditional vegetarian Chinese meal — beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious.

Below are some photos from our field trip to the monastery. We were blessed with a beautiful, clear, and warm day, and a number of our sangha friends joined in. Everyone had a wonderful time, and our monastery guide, Kevin, shared so much fascinating insight.

This pilgrimage took place on Sunday, August 10, 2025. We have at least two more field trips planned for this year — one on September 6 to the Tibetan Cultural Fair in Redding, CT, and another in October to the Peace Pagoda in the Berkshires, perfectly timed with the stunning fall foliage.

We’ll also return to Chuang Yen Monastery in the summer of 2026, and we hope you can join us for these inspiring journeys. See our event calendar for any upcoming field trips, meetings, course, and retreats.

To learn more about the beautiful Chuang Yen Monastery and its many programs, visit its web site HERE.

Our visit to the majestic Chuang Yen Monastery in Carmel, NY was truly memorable.
