{"id":8831,"date":"2019-04-14T21:18:50","date_gmt":"2019-04-15T01:18:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bffct.org\/bff\/?post_type=ctc_event&#038;p=8831"},"modified":"2019-09-19T19:55:41","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T23:55:41","slug":"practice-and-talk-meeting-51","status":"publish","type":"ctc_event","link":"https:\/\/bffct.org\/bff\/events\/practice-and-talk-meeting-51\/","title":{"rendered":"Dharma of Marcus Aurelius &#8211; PRACTICE AND TALK MEETING"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This Sunday, there will be giving an unique talk with discussion on the&nbsp;<em>Dharma of Marcus Aurelius<\/em>, which will look into Stoic and Buddhist wisdom from Book II of his Meditations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2nd&nbsp;and 4th Sundays of the month<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ideal for beginners to the most veteran practitioners<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Just attend, practice, and learn.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Practice &amp; Talk is divided in a few segments: Reflection, Meditation, and Talk. The first segment of the Sunday morning practice focuses on a couple of standard and short Buddhist rituals like going for refuge; the second part focuses on meditation practices, which include voice and sitting meditation plus sutra (scriptural) chanting; the third portion of the P &amp; T is devoted to an intellectual engagement with the teachings. There is no lecturing or sermonizing; participation is important but not required. &nbsp;The talk can be a discussion of a reading, a formal talk but it is always enveloped with discussion and Q &amp; A. The session becomes a learning experience for everyone including the teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Twice a month, we offer unique opportunities to explore the core teachings and practices of Buddhism as a philosophy of life. \u00a0Our Practice &amp; Talks are non-committing occasions to learn about Buddhism in a nurturing, gentle, and systematic way. Open to the general public. No experience necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A short Introduction to Meditation Training<\/strong> session will be held before the gathering at 8:45 a.m. (if volunteers are available)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Address<\/strong>: Buddhist Faith Fellowship, 343 Washington Terrace, Middletown, CT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the Unique Meditation Space<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Our meditation space is unmatched in Connecticut. You might have to go to Japan to experience a similar traditional atmosphere.
