Our The Promise of Boundless Compassion course will be one of our best courses of 2016. It will bring you in touch with the Great Compassion within your being and arouse your awareness to the wisdom and love pervading in the universe.
This course will survey the life and writings of the Buddhist innovators, Honen Shonin (1133-1212) and his disciple Shinran Shonin (1173 – 1263), and how their teachings are relevant for North Americans in the 21st century. Both spiritual revolutionaries lived in a tumultuous time of political change, war, and religious upheaval. They both pushed the boundaries of Buddhist teachings and practice by making them accessible to ordinary people outside the monastic elite and became founder of two spiritually and philosophical rich schools: Jodo Shu (Honen) and Jodo Shinshu (Shinran).
This course will look into their revolutionary vision of the Buddha’s teachings and their impact on world religion that has inspired generations since to walk the path of bliss and gratitude. Classes meet 5 times over a 5 month period of time. Also, you may register for 2 or 3 sessions as well (see below).
Donation: $200 for non-members and $185 for members to cover costs for the full 5 months. We understand that people are busy and have commitments, so we have tailored the course to meet your needs. If you can attend only 2 sessions the cost is $80, and for 3 sessions the cost is $120.
