Community Talk: Mothers of Buddhism

In honor of Mother’s Day, the Community talk and Discussion will explore the important women of the Buddhism who have shaped its teaching, culture, and institutions over the millennia. These exceptional women and mothers include the mother of the Buddha, Maha Maya, the aunt who raised the Buddha as a child, Prajapati, his wife, Yasodhara and Shinran’s wife, Eshinni,  and his daughter Kashushini  among others.

Attendees are welcomed to bring a photograph of their mothers to be placed on the altar for a special prayer and blessing.  The Practice will conclude with a special volunteer sharing of gratitude for our mothers and grandmothers.

In addition, attendees are welcomed to bring their mothers and grandmothers to the Sunday morning practice.

All are welcomed. Lead by Buddhist teacher, Senpai Lewis-Bastías.
